August 9th Jeremiah 10-13 The proverbial question: “Why do wicked prosper”
Jeremiah has continued to prophesy regarding Judah’s future. In all of this as Jeremiah looks about, he sees prosperity of those who have been the lead figures in censoring him: “do not speak of this,” threatening: “we will kill you if you do not stop this” and taunted him. Jeremiah asks God: “Why are these wicked people successful? Why do all dishonest people have such easy lives?” Job and King David had the same questions. When King David pondered these same thoughts he found his answer in the precincts of God’s temple for it was there that God revealed to him their eternal destiny.
Today many of us have the same questions. It is at times like that we need to enter God’s quiet space and reflect and speak with Him. God has the answers because He is the living God. In his wisdom he established the world and by his understanding spread out the skies. When his voice thunders the heavenly ocean roars. He makes the clouds rise from the far-off horizons, and the lightning flash out in the midst of the rain
Gaye, I am just reading this as your comment to me led me here. How I have asked this question as well. Living in the Psalms, in the Word, with God, allows me to know that He knows all and I need to spend my time with Him and not worry about what others have and what I may not for He has given me the riches far above and beyond those who seem to prosper here on this earth. Thank you for this reminder. Caring through Christ, ~ linda
